Update to event reservations

Hey crew,

I wanted to share an important update about how reservations will work for future events.

This change will not affect any events that are already planned. Going forward, however, some events will include a small attendance fee and a refundable deposit.

I want Ramen Crew events to remain welcoming, affordable, and accessible. This is not a decision I made lightly, but as the community has grown, it has become necessary to make a few changes so the events can continue running fairly and sustainably.

The Attendance Fee

A small, non-refundable fee will be included in the ticket price for future events.

This will help cover some of the costs involved in organizing and running each event, while allowing me to continue putting time and care into creating enjoyable nights for everyone.

Ramen Crew will not become a paid-only community. I will still organize free events where possible, and there will continue to be opportunities to meet new people and be part of the crew without purchasing a ticket.

The Refundable Deposit

Reservations will also include a refundable deposit.

When you attend the event, your deposit will be returned to you. The deposit is not intended to make the events more expensive—it is simply there to encourage people to follow through on their reservation or cancel with enough notice for someone else to take the spot.

The cancellation deadline and refund details will be clearly explained on each event page before you book.

Cancellations and No-Shows

Almost every event now has a waitlist, which is amazing to see. However, when someone reserves a place and does not attend, another person who genuinely wanted to come misses out.

I completely understand that plans can change and unexpected things happen. However, deposits will not be refunded for no-shows or cancellations made after the stated cancellation deadline.

This will hopefully reduce empty seats, make the booking process fairer, and give people on the waitlist a better opportunity to attend.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has joined an event, supported the group, or helped someone new feel welcome. Ramen Crew has grown faster than I ever expected, and I want to make sure it continues to be a kind, inclusive, and thoughtful community.
